On physical servers, the agent reads the server's own hardware sensors every 15 minutes and reports faults as Hardware findings. It does not change anything on the server.

Hardware monitoring works best with ipmitool and smartmontools — install either from the server's Hardware section if it isn't already present. Dell PERC arrays are read with perccli/storcli or racadm when installed; download PERC CLI from Dell's support site.
Cloud and VPS servers don't expose hardware to the operating system; your provider monitors it. Astrari detects this and skips hardware checks.
If a server loses power or its board fails, the agent stops too. You'll get an Agent offline alert. For warnings that survive a dead server, enable email alerts in the server's iDRAC/iLO/BMC.
Hardware findings don't affect the security score.
